Our Story.
Our journey started back in early 2020 when our founder, Hudson, realized that most of the accessories he could find for his pet rats seemed poorly constructed and made of low-quality materials. Ever the perfectionist and enthusiastic pet owner, Hudson wanted to see if he could improve upon this fairly simple hammock concept to give his rats the best and safest homes he could provide. So, with a lot of research and a lot of help from his Mother Kristen, they set out to craft the perfect pet hammocks.
Throughout the months of COVID-19 Lockdowns, Hudson and his mom worked diligently crafting and redesigning based on a lot of trial and error until they felt they had finally developed a safe product that was not, only exceedingly durable and custom handcrafted for nearly any enclosure, but also provide a wide range of adorable and fun matching patterns to decorate your fur babies homes. As a result of their dedication and love for animals, our signature “Hudson’s Hammok” was born and ready to present to the world.
We started out selling locally to a small but passionate fan base and at pet and reptile shows throughout the Midwest. But, as more and more pet owners discovered our whimsical, high-quality, custom Hudson’s Hammok’s and accessories, our fanbase starting growing faster than we could ever imagine and we had to quickly adapt to the increasing demand and have now grown into a thriving small business.
We may be growing fast but we are passionate about keeping our small-family feel! That’s why we remain dedicated to creating lovingly, handcrafted products to create new, exciting ways to help your pet’s enclosure feel a little more like home.
Because at Hudson’s Hammoks we believe “Home is where you hang your Hammok.”
Why choose a Hammok?
A lot of people ask us “you guys do know there’s a c in Hammock, Right?” Yes, yes we do but what seems to be a simple spelling mistake is actually our founder’s promise.
From a young age, Hudson, like many pet owners, has always wanted the best for ALL of his pets. So when it came time to name this new project he lovingly and carefully wrote out “HUDSON’S HAMMOKS” in big letters. It was catchy and to the point but much to his chagrin, it was misspelled. When this was brought to young Hudson’s attention he stated that,
“There is no “C” because we put all the care and comfort into our Hammoks!”

Quality & Comfort
All of our products are handmade and quality tested by independent cutters and sewers right here in the United States. While our products vary in color and construction, you can be sure that each item is built to our highest standard. Meaning, that all of our products are made from high-quality, pet-safe materials. Our simple design helps ensure your pet won’t experience any snags and keeps potentially dangerous dyes and chemicals out of your enclosure. We use durable, micro-fleece fabric to limit the potential for snags or tangles on nails or scales. We also use hand-hammered aluminum rivets on each Hammok anchor point to ensure it is secure and built to last. All of this means your Hammok is machine washable and won’t rust or corrode with multiple washes.
